GET A GRIP!

Even all of the pro players do not grip their cue the same way. Some hold the butt of the cue with all four fingers, some use the back two, some use the front three, etc. Since there is no one way to grip and yet all the top players seem to get
the job done, what then can be learned from them?

Actually they do have something in common and that can be summed up by the phrase "hang on loosely!".

Do not strangle your cue stick. One way to be sure your grip is loose is to be sure you always have a sufficient alr space between the part of your thumb closest to your palm and the top of the cue.

BANK IT LONG AND CRISP

Having trouble with that bank shot?

It could be because the math and angle concept for making bank shots only holds true with a consistent slow hit on a new slick cloth. Many conditions such as cold, heat, humidity, chalk in cloth, etc., effect the rebound angle. Any of these factors can change the result by a considerable margin and chances are your bank shot will usually come up SHORT.

The pros always use a crisp, solid (higher speed) stroke on bank shots. The next time you are practicing your bank shots, adjust your aim (by one or more inches) to bank the shot wide of the pocket. Then hit it like the pros - crisp.
