INTERSTATE PARTNERS WELCOMES "ON Q" TO THE GROVE IN ELGIN
(Schaumburg, IL) - Mark Ebacher, president of Interstate Partners, is excited to announce that Thomas Karabatsos has purchased a 2.27 acre site located at 2300 Bushwood Drive within The Grove, located at the I-90/Randall Road interchange, in Elgin, Illinois for the construction of ON Q, an approximate 18,000 square foot restaurant/bar/billiards establishment.
ON Q is a restaurant and bar with a focus on billiards/pool as the entertainment. It represents the fifth establishment of this type created by Karabatsos in the Chicagoland area. Formerly ranked the 11th pool player in the world, Karabatsos found a niche by creating destination establishments that combine a great restaurant with a location where pool lovers can play their sport and major pool tournaments can be held.
"My quest to design the ultimate entertainment facility has culminated in ON Q. I feel like I have finally created the right atmosphere with this new establishment," stated Karabotsos. "We chose this great location because of the easy access right off the I-90 expressway and have put all the pieces into place to make this establishment as much fun as possible. ON Q will be host to pool tournaments and 'pool school' twice a year, inviting players nationally and internationally who want to perfect their game. Locally, we will sponsor youth sports as well as our own pool leagues. We plan to get the whole family involved with events such as 'Parent/Child Leagues."
This high-end building boasts landmark architecture featuring an arch precast with brick elements at the front entrance. The rear of the building, which has prominent exposure to Randall Road, is designed for the finest in alfresco dining with three levels of decks overlooking a seven-acre meticulously landscaped retention pond with fountains. The interior features two levels of dining and rooms to accommodate private parties from 15 to 400. Live entertainment is planned for the weekends and patrons can always be entertained by the 24 maintained regulation pool tables and two official billiards tables. Ground will be broken this month and occupancy is scheduled for late fall 2006. ICG Incorporated is providing construction management, architectural services are being provided by Heitman Architects and civil engineers are Cowhey Gudmundson Leder. Jason Source of NAI Hiffman worked on behalf of Interstate Partners in the transaction.
"As Elgin continues to grow, establishments providing entertainment for our residents and workers become very important," stated Elgin's Mayor, Ed Schock. "We are very excited to welcome ON Q into Elgin and are pleased they chose our city in which to build this unique restaurant. On Q will not only attract local residents, but we expect many to come to Elgin specifically to visit this establishment, especially those who favor billiards and the regional tournaments will be a big draw."
Karl Heitman, president of Heitman Architects describes On Q as, a dining and entertainment environment unlike any other. The facility is reminiscent of a grand villa overlooking Lake Como; with a double tiered terrace and an upper story balcony that accommodates outdoor seating for 100. The brick facade features Italianate details with limestone cornices. The interior design creates a multi-functional environment that combines large open dining rooms, with bars and billiard tables on both the first and second floor. There are secluded party rooms for corporate or private events. The most unique space is the second floor, which can host world-class billiards tournaments with flexible spectator seating; which can be converted to an upscale dining room complete with band stage and dance floor.
