Down to the Final Four in Pacific Coast Classic

October 18, 2009 · No Comments

The field has been narrowed to just four players down from the 64 player field in the WPBA's Pacific Coast 9-Ball Classic at Chinook Winds Casino in Lincoln City, Oregon. Quarter final #1 featured Austria's Jasmin Ouschan vs. Norway's Line Kjorsvik. After a hard-fought battle, Ouschan emerged the winner with a 7-4 victory to move on to Sunday's semi-finals. Quarter final #2 offered a banner match between new #1 ranked Ga Young Kim, winner of this year's US Open and Colorado Classic, and Allison Fisher, looking for her first WPBA win this year. Allison won a tough 7-5 victory to head to the semis. (Fisher will be inducted into the BCA Hall of Fame Oct. 22 in Chesapeake - going there with another win would be quite the icing on the cake for her fans! Quarterfinals #3 saw the return of Taiwan's Jennifer Chen to the WPBA stage. She missed most of this season opening up her new billiard establishment, JC Billiards & Club. Unfortunately, after getting here undefeated, she ran into a formidable Karen Corr, also seeking her first 2009 title. Corr was unstoppable, defeating Chen 7-0. And in the final quarterfinal matchup it was veteran pro Gerda Hofstatter vs. China's Xiaoting Pan. Both players were eager for the victory, each battling their way to the hill at 6 games apiece in the televised race to 7. Gerda had the break in game 13 and although she made a ball, she was forced to push. A safety battle ensued and a costly scratch by Gerda gave Xiaoting ball in hand with an easy layout to take this match 7-6. Stay tuned for semi final and final action tomorrow!
